Hi, just wondered if someone could help me ID this plant. I have it planted in the sand substrate, is this correct for this plant? The leaves have gone from being green to brown (but really healthy) and almost waxy. Really like this plant as it adds a nice contrast.

All advice welcomed.

Thanks.

Yes, they are normally grown in substrate.

Thanks very much. :) What else will do well in the conditions that Wendtii thrive in?

I grow Hygrophilas, Vallis. and Anubias with mine, as well as some other stuff. A lot of plants will live in conditions in which the Crypt will thrive.. but the real question is what will do well in the conditions you provide? ;)

lljdma has reported that Wendtii do seem to thrive with frequent water changes and suffer a bit more if the frequency of those drop off. I have also observed that in my own tank. WD

On the other hand, I had great success with them in tanks where I changed water even as little as 5% every week. ;)

Looks like a Crypt Becketii to me. I have one that looks just like this
Heres a pic of mine. Becketii

The leaves on mine start off green then eventually turn brown.

Hmm, this is making me think I've been way off on what my Crypt is.. it does look identical to yours Paul. How did you get yours IDed?
