Could someone tell me if I should be placing the CO2 diffuser close to the filter intake or should it be on the opposite end of the tank from the filter?

Somewhere near high flow is good.

As far as I am aware some people place them under filter intakes (so the co2 is taken into the filter giving it more time to absorb).

Under the outflow is also a good place.

Not to good an idea to place them near the filter intake, gas bubbles are not your filter impellers friend.

Mine is next to the output from my circulaton pump.

Good spot is opposite your outlet at the bottom of your tank as this is where the flow is directed downwards after hitting the glass, helping to push it round the tank better.
