The LFS recommended a Pilea/Aluminum plant for my tank. I purchased it and was just trying to find info on the net and everything I can find says it's just a regular houseplant, not a water plant. Does anyone know if this will be OK for my tank, or should I take it back to the store?

I've got a couple of Pilea on windowsill, very nice they are too - like a lot of watering but don't know if I'd sudmerge them!!

It is not a true aquatic and will die after a period of time in your tank. A lot of plants like that are sold to be "ornamental"....like if you want a pretty plant in your tank for a short period.

Spathyphyllum also falls under this category.....as do many other red plants....

Sadly there are an awful lot of non-aquatic plants sold as suitable. They die and rot. Pilea will not survive underwater.
