If someone knows what these are, that would be great. They don't show the side stripe all the time.

They are about 8" at this time.

Thanks, The Rev

One springs to mind, but that's Crenicichla johanna, but they're a little thin in the body.

Where did you get them from? That might help ID them.

They are at friends pet store. All he could get from the wholesaler in L.A. was they were wild caught, no other details, and were just listed as pike cichlid.

I'm not an expert by an stretch, but after a bit of google researching I am tempted to agree with bonzo. They seem to have the same solid stripe and well as the slight red coloring as the Crenicichla johanna seem to.

Again tho, not an expert.

Well everyone, I think you're right about them being johanna's. Yeah. This is a sample of some of the fish my friend brings into his shop. He loves big, predatory fish and apparently so do a lot of his customers. I keep trying to talk him out of these monster fish, but he's got a pair of farm raised arapima coming in this week.... Thing is I know he's honest with people about potential size of the fish, but people just think their 150 gallon is huge, so the rtc and 5 other jumbo fish will be fine. Supply and demand.
