will my pictus eat my 0.5inch corys?

i heard pictus' are carniverous

Pictus species are opurtunistic feeders. If they are hungry and the cories can fit in their mouth, the pictus may try to eat them.

the corys wouldnt fit yet :)

Actually, Pictus are of the Pimelodid family, a species of highly predatory catfish. Those nice long whiskers are for searching out prey. They are far from oppurtunistic feeders as once night falls they will prwol the tank looking for food.

You can pretty much guarantee that once the pictus pass 4" anything under 2" will start dissappearing.

I'd be surprised if it managed to eat a cory or another catfish, their pectoral ray deffense system usually means they are spat straight back out again by all but the largest predators..

How big is your pictus?

Ben

about 2 inches (5cm)

Or they get stuck in the mouth of the predator and both fish die.

corys are a tad bit spiny at the fins. bad idea. if it were a faster moving fish it may be ok because in about a year my pictus's never managed to get the danio in the tank but cories are mostly still so very bad idea

I've heard many stories of cories' spines sticking out the stomachs of fish that have eaten them, and of course both fish dying.

Once your pictus gets larger (and it will), it will be very capable of eating a smaller cory. Its been my experience that cories grow more slowly than pictus so that's something to keep in mind.

Don't mean to put a damper on anything but it just sounds like a really bad combo.
