have any of you had the experience of a pictus sucking your tetras or other small fish? i had that happen. couldn't for the life of me figure out why my neons were disappearing but there were no carcasses or bones floating in the tank. then read somewhere this happened to someone else. anyway, just thought it was rather strange. i had to give my pictus back to my lfs. :p

Well Thats what Predatory Catfish Do. If it has long whiskers it is a predator and will eat your small fish. Most people keep them with larger fish.

he was so small, had no idea he could eat something almost as big as he was.

Pictus can't resist small fish :) Any pictus from 3-6 inches could inhale a neon :D
i think my pictus was right at 3", possibly a tad smaller.

unfortunately i had to learn this lesson the hard way :D i'm glad my pleco does not do the same!

yeah i guess the pictus was a little bigger than the neons, but not much. i'm not great at spatial visualization obviously. but i do know for sure the pictus was the smallest in the tank of pictus cats we bought him from.

and i could see them side by side and the pictus was not much bigger than the neons. but obviously his mouth was big enough to hoover them up every night!! :D :D
