In my planned 67g (48x18x18), thus far I've got a P. delhezi, a p. sp. 'congo', a gold sev and a leopard cte.... thing. Leopard bush fish, whatever. According to the stocking template of some of the wise bods on chat, I'm about 1/3 stocked (I thought I was fully stocked...), and still needed are surface dwellers, and a cat. Pretty much, question is, reccomend any interesting ones that aren't edible size for a 15" bichir? Preferably not one with a 'sucker mouth', I'd imagine I'd get annoyed every time it went on the front of the tank . Also, whats the max. size I'd be looking at for a catfish for the tank?

A synodontis of some sort. Depends on the depth of your pockets as to choice a nice angelicus would be my choice expect to pay £30.

It's not dead silly! They're tagging it because it's an endangered species and they track the population.

Just stuck a post in Chit Chat about it.

"The captors attempted to release the giant catfish, which is an adult male, so it could continue its spawning migration upriver towards the Golden Triangle - the border of Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, and China, but unfortunately the fish died. It was later cooked and eaten by the fishermen."

:-( evil

a syno would be awesome in a tank like that! he would be a nice fit and really stand out IMO

As a big syno fan I'd have to say them too. Depending on what kind you'd like as there are many. Some are happier with company of their own kind and some are not. The Angelicus breed are solitary syno types whereas Eupterus like the company of others. Have a look through the choices and their eventual sizes and see what you like.
Hugs,
P.

Okely dokely, I know somewhere that seems to have a load of synos, I'll take a looky, they might also have some other stuff I want :)

Not at Uni down there are you? One of my friends and fellow modmins on HIMonline goes to Uni in Pompey. Thinks she's not terribly keen on the place right now though.
A long way from you I know but there's a place in Peterboro' that has loads of synos. Ones not often seen elsewhere. It's where I picked up my Clarius.
Hugs,
P.

Feeshy's only like 14 :hyper: yeah, i know, you'd never guess it from the way she carries on lordin' it over us. :p (teasing, Feeshy!!)

are you sure you wouldn't be interested in one of the quirkier-looking L#s? smithrc has a nifty one that's very red and spotty. and then there are the ones that are yellow and stripey. or the one that's white and spotty. (i really like that one...) my plecs have never spent much time hanging on the glass. they're typically too busy munching on the ornaments or fighting over the algae wafers.

on a different note, pictus cats may be an option, if you'd like some schooling action in the tank.

Heh! I am mortally insulted now  I think I'll go and tell everyone that oscars are perfect tankmates for 5g male betta communities now :p

Well, yeah, I was looking at them too, Paul said that for the same delivery price he could fit a lot of L no's in... Which I'm debating whether tis a good thing or a bad thing :look:

Plecs and synos are a no no with bichirs, both like to suck on the slime coating of fish with ganoid scales.

Yep^^^!!

I would of said pim pictus but recently Dans been having problems with his bichirs trying to eat the pims.

so maybe 1 of the slightly bigger pims.
