hello im new so dont shout at me but is this ok for the moment?

we just stocked a 20 litre tank with

2x Cherry Barbs (1" each ish)
1x Red tailed Black shark (1" ish)
1x catfish (albino as far as i can tell)(1" each ish)

I realise that i should be careful with the shark but it was in the same tank as the other fish at the shop,
i also realise that this tank is going to be way to short quickly but how long do i have till i need to rehouse them and to what size tank?
we were told that they should be fine in the tank by the shop assistant but im not so sure...

p.s. sorry if i cut this thread short..

A new tank is needed now, around the 35 gallon range is minimum for the shark, 20 litres isn't big enough for any of those species.

yeh i thought as such, but i think that sharks got to go cuz its harrzsing the others... its funny tey were in the same tank and they said they be fine in our size tank oh well what tank would we need for the cherry Barbs and catfish? (ukg)

to be honest it doesnt really look like ether but i can find out because we are takin the shark back, and ill pick the name up there... on the receipt it says albino but it looks like its got brown/pearl like patches ... ive got to go now but ill continue this in about hour
bye thanks 4 the help anyhows

my catfish looks very similar to this one
http://www.sunshine.dp.ua/os/fun/aquarium/catfish.jpg
but has more shine/pearl like markings under the eyes

in fact is deffinatly not an albio...it looks like a copper cory but doesnt have the same colour shiny patches and has 4 barbles instead of the cories 2
(and two little things right on the chin)

bingo, i thought it might be a Bronze after lookin at the pics on the fish index-->catfish

is that a 115 gallon tank?!? or a 15g? and thanks for the help,
p.s what would count as small? more cherry barbs/other barbs?

i take it it was the 15,

well seeing as they are in a large tank in ratio to their size i think they will be ok for a bit,
my parents said we could get a larger tank if i "prove" myself with this one so its a test..sort of

you will be ok for about 6 months or so mate your shark will grow fast though but as long as you upgrade tanks before it get to big you will be fine people on here i find are very opinionated its what suites you mate. I have fish in a tank that people on here would say im cruel but as they grow they move to bigger tanks and ive never had any deaths or disease or any sudden break outs of ammonia or high nitrite.

the shark had to go it was terrorising the Barbs, one of them has a tiny nip (will it heal?)

yeh beacuse my tank at the moment is a 4.5 gallon with 3 in of fish..so i think they would be ok for a little while and in 6 months we should be able to mass upt the funds for a 15g,

wow that does seen like quite alot of fish but then again im here to learn not to preach (sorry if i do/havedone)

what other fish could i put in?
i quite like the look of the golden barbs that i saw when getting the fish yesterday, but i know they grow slightly larger then the chery's

i sort of did by opening this convo but thankx anyway and was i right to not like the person seeing he doesnt seem to have any experience in this?

i.e. selling me the fish for the size of the tank,
selling me the combination (RTB shark)
and then tell me not to keep barbs with tetras?

or am i just being harse/perdantic seeing as i cant really talk..

Yep, he's an idiot, RTBS grow far too big (6") and get aggressive (many people on here have had to get rid of theirs becasue they got too nasty), and barbs are generally OK to keep with tetras, it's only really tiger barbs that could cause problems.

kk next time ill go to a place where they have an idea like a local (tho is a little distance)
and they diddnt have any tigers only cherry and golden which were both nice

ive got to go for a bit but i should be able to repy to any thing new said later on this afternoon
