Pet Shop or Home Test

I have been offered free water testing by a local pet shop, should I use this or buy my own kit. As I am a complete novice suggestions welcome.
Also I have lost fish but as far as I can tell there is nothing physically wrong with them. Getting worried

Take lfs test if it's all you have. But better to have your own on hand...then you don't have to take a trip sh. a problem arise.
