Just wondering if anybody had regenerated their Seachem Perigen packs? I'm a bit confused about freshwater buffering after the bleach soak? is the buffering needed? if so do I now need to buy the SeaChem buffering stuff? I happen to have some used Perigen pack and thought I would regenerate it in at attempt to lower nitrates.

Do you mean the “Seachem buffer” for tanks that have to hard of water?

It is recommended that you don’t use any medications for raising or lowering the hardness of your tank.

Purigen instructions say that to regenerate it, first soak it in bleach, then rinse and soak in dechlorinated water, then for fresh water soak in water containing buffer - they suggest their products Discus Buffer or Neutral Regulator.

Presumably not using the buffer means that the regenerated Purigen is not as effective as newly bought Purigen.
