Peat moss

Hello all,
I have read that peat moss is supposed to lower the PH level of the aquarium. Is this true? How does one use it? Also on a side note is it a bad idea to use carbon with an amonia blocker in my filter? Thanks for your help.

yes peat lowers pH and there are many ways to use it, I put some in the filter ,but some boil it and add strain out the peat, keep the water and add it to the tank for water changes, of course there are many ways you can use peat moss
