have just started keeping killifish and alot of them lay eggs in peat but i am searching to buy some but cant find any. all i can get is granules that go in the filter. any one used ordinary garden peat? would that work?

try garden centres that do ponds,... they will sell aquatic peat

Yah just make sure you get 'pond grade' or 'aquarium grade' or the peat will not be strong enough to lower the pH value in the tank. (the darker coloured the peat is the better it is for fish use!)

cant find aquatic peat for sale anywhere. any one know where i can get it?

I recently set up a tank using coconut fibre substrate intended for reptiles and inverts as a aquarium substrate and have so far been pleased with the results. No pics yet as the tank doesnt have a light.
