Unknown pangio, not seminica as seminica does not have brown markings on the belly. His markings are slowly splitting in the middle to form both top and bottom blotches.

Do I spot a hagfish loach? :shifty:
Perhaps :p

Wow that must be one of the most comprehensive collections around :)
There are many many many kinds of pangios haha... some not even properly identified which brings issues with my oddball.

altogether ive got:
pangio seminica x5
pangio oblonga x5
pangio doriae x2
pangio pan04 x2
unknown pangio x1

Love the movements they make but also kinda scared of them
I dunno I think they move like whacky little spring creatures, anyone remember these things?

Added a few more pangios to my bunch of noodles.

Added x3 pangio anguillaris

Very tiny noodles still, less than 2 inches and less than 1cm thick!

Similar to p doriae, but lacks the nasal tubes, lacks the golden metallic shine, and the lateral stripe continues into the tail where it does not on the doriae. Also much bolder lateral stripe.

They are so cool. Love your collection. We are so regulated and protective of our water ways we only get Kuhlis over here. Love it. I love wacky collections of fish.

But in many ways I cannot disagree with the regulations. Where I live the lakes and rivers are so overrun by invasive species. Beyond repair in some cases. Things like sea lamprey, round gobies, Asian grass carp, goldfish, zebra mussels, Chinese clams, plus others. Some species are banned here too as a precaution. Maybe about 10 years back they actually found a small shark washed up on one of the islands. We are freshwater--someone dumped their pet shark in the lake where the poor thing died in the freshwater. People are collectively idiots here, so I totally understand the ecological reasons to put regulations in place.

Ask me where I got my first goldfish! Lol he was caught wild and I'm not gonna toss back a non native fish, so I kept him.

But all of these are kuhli type loaches, stay less than 4 inches and are super neat to see. They love the leaf litter and will hide under logs and the sponge filter. But at feeding time and evening they come squirming out lol and they get along great with cories too.

We don't have Koi in NZ because we are protecting the trout. I actually like the philosophy. But the people who make up the regulations have limited knowledge and therefore we miss a lot of opportunities
