Outdoor pond

Im planning to build a bar and seating area in our garden with a wrap around pond.

How deep would you make the pond?

Was thinking 4 ft deep but wasnt sure that was deep enough.

Its going to be about 30 to 40 ft long to be fair

4 or 5 foot deep is fine. As long as it doesn't freeze solid you should be fine.

Mine's 1 metre. Deep enough to stop the fish boiling in summer or freezing in winter.

Have you got a heater in your pond Sean?

No. Normally I just keep the pump running all year. There have been a few years where I had to stir it up to stop the top freezing over completely but we don't get winters like that down here too often.
