Opinion On Stocking Scheme

Hi all. I am currently doing a fishless cycle on a 55 gal.

It has a split gravel and sand bottom and medium "planting" of silk and plastic plants.

I am looking to get 6 cories, 6 neons, 6 lemon tetras, and 6 fancy male guppies. What else would go nicely that I would only need one or two of? What could be a "centerpiece" fish for this plan?

Any comments welcome.

bolivian or german blue rams (pair)
gold rams

i would up the numbers of the tetras too in that size tank you could get a lot more and they would look a lot better than just 6 of each i'd get 12+ i believe they like bigger numbers and also look at getting cardinal tetra over neon but thats just my personal choice as both are nice.

I had a wild caught dwarf flag - fantastic fish! Sadly it decided one day that it didn't like my angel and had to be rehomed.

Cant recomend the apisto's enough they are colourfull fish and mine have learnt to recognize me and come say hello feeding time or not. My GBR on the other hand will be getting fed to cat it they dont pack it in they cause havoc in the tank of 400L even with their care sheet fully adhered to

I love my apistos (cacatuoides), my female especially is full of character. Very friendly.

I really wanted a dwarf flag but couldnt source one locally, they are lovely colours, and peaceful.

My dwarf gourami is full of personality, doesn't tolerate other larger fish such as my Bolivian rams though.

And in turn, my rams don't get on either as they're not a breeding pair, so they're looking for a home now!

In that size tank i would get way more corys. You have alot of ground space. Get a few diff species of corys. at least 6 of each. def up the neons. I would get 20. the more the better they are to watch and the more natural they act. You could get a pair of swordtails. You could also go with a shoal of cherry or gold barbs. You have plenty of options out there. You could also go with some bigger tetras. I like the long skirt black, and white, tetras. Good luck.
