I'm setting up a pico tank........again. For the substrate I need something clay like to kind of make the edge of a cliff out of and as you know most substrates would just drop and create a nice curve. I'm thinking of using crushed florabase as it's clay based butany ideas what to mix it with to make it kind of sticky but able to sculpt. I ask as I saw your wabi kusa. :)

it moulded quite well on it's own with plenty of manipulation. I mixed mine with crushed JBL monado, i'm not sure whether that made any difference. It stayed together for a few months until the wife got sick of it and threw it out!

Hmmm cool, I might throw some sand in to break it up as I need to plant HC in it too, cheers dude.

good luck with it Steve and remember the pics!

There is another journal lol............................sorry :)

What about using a piece of rock as the cliff face? And then built the substrate up behind it?

It's not actually a cliff face, kind of like where you get those big muddy drop offs in the jungle, bit like that with the tree over hanging the edgeand roots running down, kind of complicated but we'll see if it works lol prob not :)
