I was just wondering about changing my tank to a malawi setup, but I'm quite reluctant to give up my two female nicaraguas I have in there, not too bothered about anything else. But basically my question being, is it possible to keep some species in the same tank as my two nicaragua?

I have no idea what kind of water etc etc that old world cichlids need to please shoot me down if I'm being ridiculous here, just wanted an idea.

Cheers.

Not recommended; different diet, different water requirements, different maturity rates, all suggest its a bad idea to mix them,

The Ph would actually be pretty good but given how weak Nics are I would not risk it... They are quite bolshy and start stuff but there is very little in the way of being able to take damage.

Just throwing it out there, where are you from? I know of a few people after Nics and we might be able to help out :) Should you choose to rehome them.
