Old Tank Redux

Been slowly feeling inspired over the months to do something with my ancient, maintained-but-never-improved 15 gallon with just a few remaining fish that have withstood the passage of time. Really liked the way it came out so wanted to show it off. Well stocked, it is certainly not.

I really like this, the wood placement is perfect imo but it could do with it all been moved to the right a little but nothing major.
Some rocks and a hammer to smash up some rocks for detail pieces

Java fern or something in and around the wood? BOOM that's what i would do but hopefully it'll spark you some idea's

Once the java moss grows a bit, I am going to string it around the base of the wood and around all the pieces. I am hoping for this to eventually be an ideal tank for breeding embers, and from what I gather they do not like a lot of heavy planting in the mid/top of the tank, just more scarce thin stuff, wood, and I have lots of small plants and wood to provide hiding spaces. I am also going to be making a small low-to-the-ground 'dome' with hardware cloth and grow moss/algae on it, intended so that fry can easily get in and out of the dome but adults can't. It'll be a low-tech operation, and it it doesn't work out for breeding I will still enjoy having a school of embers in there Right now there's just otos, and one single ember. He's a relic from tanks long ago.

The wood peice may or may not have been made from a dog frisbee. >_>

Now that all the dirt has settled, here's a better photo.

The betta is temporary. He's just trying to help keep a small bioload on my filter there, as are the ghost shrimp in the tank, until I can get my embers. He'll be sad to go back in his 2.5, I'm sure.
