I have a dwarf male gaurami that I have had for 9 months or more. He has a dark grayish-looking smudge on the end of his dorsal fin. It was there when I got him, but I didn't see it until I put him in my 30 gallon tank. I looked from above, but it didn't stick out or look fuzzy or anything. It has grown, though the fish has not. He seems happy and is eating well. The tank has lots of plastic plants and rocks in it.

Does anyone know what this mark could be? Thanks.

This is going to be very hard to diagnose without a clear picture Bonnie... is it possible?

I don't know if I can get a decent picture or not. He moves around so much. He follows my hand a lot, thinking there is food in it...I will try over the next few days, but it won't be easy.

All I can think of is that it is an odd pigment abberation. I once had a marbled angelfish that had a strange, orange splotch on one side. It didn't hurt the fish and it was perfectly healthy, until it outgrew the tank and I had to give it and another one away.

Atm, it sounds very much like this is the case here as well.
