So for about two and a half weeks I have been treating my tank with Kordons Ich Attack. I lost all 6 of my cherry barbs, and all 5 Von Rio tetras. I have elevated the temp, dropped the water level, and have done one 40 percent water change since then, and plan on doing another one this weekend. I didnt want to stress everyone out to much with everything else going on in the tank. As of now, my kuhli loaches have just a very few spots on them, my Golden wonder killi and platy never got any, and my swordtail is clear finally. So, I was assuming everything is on the mend. But now today, I noticed that one of my Kuhlis is missing a chunk out of his back. I tried to get a picture, but couldnt. I have no idea what could have possibly happend to it, and have no idea how to care for that, if it is even possible.

The current temp in the tank is 86.4, as it has been at for about a week and a half.

I am waiting on an API master test kit to come via Amazon, which should be here any day to get a very accurate reading, as I dont think my test strips were all that accurate.

The only way I could discribe the wound, would be almost like something took a bite out of him....but I dont have anything that could really do that kinda damage.

Any ideas?

It sounds like something took a bite out of him from your description but without a picture its impossible to tell anything really. So what do you currently have in the tank now?

A juvenile red wag platy, a female swordtail, and a golden wonder killi. Well and four other kuhlis besides the injured one.

The only one who I could think of that could possibly bite it would be the golden wonder, but he hardly ever goes down to the bottom, and the only aggression he's ever shown is with small things he can suck all the way into his mouth.

The only other thing I could think of is that maybe it could be a burn of some kind, as I have the heat up while treating ich, and my kuhlis like to drape themselves over the suction cups holding the heater in place...but I'd think it would have moved before it coming to that. I'll try for a picture again tomorrow.

Well unfortunately my loach died poor little guy :(. At feeding time all the other loaches look totally fine...not sure what happened.

Aww I'm sorry it died. Although I'm not surprised looking at the size of the chunk out of its back. :(
I've been researching killis as I had thought about getting them for my tank, and have read golden wonders are quite aggressive and will kill and eat smaller fish, and that their mouths can open much wider than one would expect, so it wouldn't surprise me if that was what happened. I've never seen burns on a fish before so I'm not sure if that is something it could be, although the chunk is quite deep, I'm not sure if burns can do that?

I figured that it would die, but its just weird. I've never seen the golden wonder bother the loaches at all. Infact he's very mild mannered...except with the couple guppies ive tried once...he ate those...but has never bothered the much smaller platy, or the cherry barbs, and they were right in his face all the time. While it very well could be possible, I can't really see it from the behavior I've observed.
