Just trying to get some ideas for my community tank, its a 29 gal. I was looking for something other than corys, possibly hoplos or something. Any suggestions for cats that won't bug or eat my other fish (platys), would be awesome. Thanks much.

Regular porthole catfish (Dianema Longibarbis) or flagtailed porthole catfish (Dianema Urostriatum) would go great in there. I wouldn't suggest hoplos, but these are very similiar in appearance, just a lot smaller. I believe they get to be around 4-5 inches when full grown. They are completely harmless and acct like little vacuums for uneaten food.

Why not hoplos? They are great fish. I have 2 tha lived in a 2 foot tank until they grew, and are now in a 3 foot tank and in perfect health (boy do they eat!). I keep them with smaller fish andthey are so so gentle!
