went looking for corys at my nearest pet place. I don't know why I even try going to this pet shop. They care more about grooming dogs then selling fish or other pets and supplies. They have several tanks and they're dirty and the sellection is limited. Most of the tanks have no fish. And not once has anyone ever asked me if I needed help. Most of the time the place looks empty because they are back with the dogs or in an office.
I just moved out here recently and this is the only pet shop I've found near by. I'll have to travel to a bigger town about an hour away to get to another pet shop

sorry to hear that, perhaps the town may have some great lfs for you to get some great fish from! keep us posted epes if u see any really cool looking cory's ( i need another tank of cory's lol)

Deffinately worth finding a good lfs.....if not essential ;)

There are some good mail order companies in america also. We don't have anything like that luxury here in stone age great britain

Obviously I can't vouch but from ostrow's and other opinions I have read it does sometimes seem to be the best option. You can also get some real deals on http://www.ebay.com and http://www.aquabid.com

ya, I get a lot of fish mailorder these days. Have had success with sellers of cichlids on aquabid. Are you sure there are no mailorders on your side of the water. I think I saw some.

must admit i not seen uk mailorder for fish! anyone!!!

I checked again and the one I saw listed was a cichlid dealer in the uk called FishBiz. May not even be mailorder. How are the fish shops over there. :)

I've got about 5-6 shops within about 30min drive that I'd use and a few more attached to garden centers or other pet shops which don't seem to have the range/knowledge of a dedicated fish house.

For non-fish products I'm quite happy to use mail order/internet companies as this can save upto 40% compared to what a shop will sell it for.

I guess we don't have the distances to travell compared to some of our friends across the Pond.

:)

love those mailorder supply companies. couldn't afford to be in the hobby without them

If you have a good fish store around, you might ask them to order a batch. They come in 6's usually, so they might make you buy the whole lot, but with cories that's not much of a problem. I dont like to mail order from anyone but other fishkeepers i know: Shipping from anyone else is like 30 bucks. I got some Endler's Livebearers fry from Clint Norwood of Petfish.net for a total of 12 dollars. That ended up being a dollar per fish, very good deal. He doesnt have cories, tho
