I lost 2 fish today due to me accidently over feeding them and my nitrite levals went through the roof i checked at 6pm and changed 1/3rd of the water and added some amquel+ then did a test an hour later and had no Nitrite at all really does this sound right and what else do i need to be doing?

Have you done a gravel vac, also collect as much out with a net as well by stiring the substrate.
That might be a false reading, usually a couple of hours test nitrite again.

yea thats how i removed the 1/3rd of water from the tank with a gravel vac then replaced it added the amquel and tested it an hour later what should i do next?

Maybe just increase aeration, and do a test again in another hour good luck.

got ya no i cant do that but just did a new test 0ppm of ammonia and 0ppm nitrite and 5ppm nitrate so is this good do i need to add more amquel tommorow or did i manage to save the day?

That good then, test again tomorrow just to make sure, and just go by your readings, good luck.

a cycled tank shouldnt show any nitrites at all. is it a new tank? maybe you've done something to upset the balance. my advice would be water changes not chemicals.

my nitrite went back to nill that night but the next morning as in today was at 0.1-0.2 ppm roughly i added some more amquel tonight and tested it 2 hrs later still at 0.1-0.2 ppm of nitrite no ammonia and bout 5ppm nitrate what should i don next ill test my water when i get home from work tomorrow but if its still the same amount of nitrite wat should i do as i dont want to keep adding amquel i also added some more cycle today aswell.

As long as the fish are not stressed, it shouldn't be long before it goes down to 0.

should i leave it then would u say but if it goes back up cdo a part water change. Also i acidently had 1 danio in my tank fish shop bloke must of put it in the bag by accident when i bought another fish i found it today dead but its head was gone i dont have anything vicious so would this of been caused by stress or cause he was on his own and probbaly annoying other fish???

Sorry that awful, if the fish are not stressed or laboured breathing, i would leave the tank for tonight, but check stats again tomorrow, but if you are worried about the fish preform another small water change.

They all seem fine the only ones im worried about are my dwarf gouramis they seem to be really shy always hidden up in the ship and one in the pot is this normal gourami behaviour.

very funny with water quality gouramis, i would do the water change then, not a big one say 10%.
