Nitrite in tap water

I have tested my tap water and appear to have high levels of nitrites in my water.
Is this normal/possible, is my test kit faulty, i have the paper test kit which gIves readings for nitrates, nitrites, kh, ph etc can any one advise me.

I guess it's possible. I've heard others that have ammonia in their tap. What level does it test at, just out of curiosity. Most fish stores will test your water for you if you bring them a sample. Might be a good thing to do to verify the accuracy of your test kit.

Sorry about this one, Bought new test kit, nitritre is below 0.3. sorry for the hassle. )
