Hi i used to have a betta splendens and he is dead now but i think he died with 7 diseases (poor thing) i havent got any pictures of him but he had FIN ROT , BODY ROT , MOUTH ROT , WHITE SPOT , GILL FLUKES , STRESS AND SKIN FLUKES.
Now i know i went wrong by getting the betta on the 2nd day of having the tank set-up but i have learn't my lesson and just need some advice. Please don't post any rude or nasty comments.

Hello VQ welcome to TFF

We all learn by our mistakes and be assured you are not the only one that has made them.

In my humble opinion research and study can never do you wrong.

If your ever in doubt ask.

I would look and read and decide exactly what fish you like and want to keep, then read and ask about them work out if you have the time space and money to look after the fish.

From there you can move on

Thanks but im having a tank at miss cosmos place cause my mum wont let me have any more fish caue i might end up killing it like my old fish (logan) and i have 5 cats and a hamster so i think a fish is out of the question so

Her tank down at mine is going to be a small community tank. It will have 3 male guppies with splendid coloured fins and a shoal of 5-6 neon tetras with maybe some cherry shrimp. Hows this sound?

Depends what sort of size it is really.

They're all compatible though which is certainly a good start

It's just abit smaller than my 2ft tank so prob about 9-10 gallons? I can scale down on the guppies or just have guppies and cherry shrimp?

Your original stocking plans sound fine to me.

Ok so when i get it i can set it up and fishless cycle it. I will add the guppies first then the cherry shrimp then at the 6-7 month mark (not including cycling time) i can add about 2-3 neons then about 2 weeks later i can add the other 2-3 neons. Hows this plan sound?

Will i be able to have anything else in this tank? I found out today that it is actually a 2ft tank but because of limited space to show length it could be bigger but if it is bigger then my guppies are going in and my friend can have my 2ft but i highly doubt it is bigger than 2ft.
