Hi,
This is my very first post on these forums and i need help!
my title says at all but i'll repeat just incase you missed it :)
Is there enough surface disturbtion for a suffice amount of aeration to occur?
Okay to give you guys an idea it's a 100 litre tank, 3 foot wide and 12 inches deep.
It was filled 2 days ago and still needs gravel + plants and fish of course.
i was told my a LFS that if i used a filter with a spray bar i would get sufficient aeration, but i thought i'd better check with people who have nothing to gain out of me :)
The 1st pic is the whole set up, 2nd the right hand side from the top, 3rd left hand side from top, 4th shows the filter in situ up close and at the surface you can see the top jet just causing some disruption to the surface, and the last is my attempt to show you the jet above the water surface

The shots from above are trying to show the ripples in the surface and if you can notice on 2 of the pictures i'm showing on of the jets leaving the water surface to actually break the surface of the water, any help is greatly appreciated as i don't want a mass of dead fish when i finally add them.
Thanks

You dont need bubbles and rough water jets to put air into a tank. As long as you have gentle disturbance of the surface you will be getting enough air in. You would soon know if you were not as all the fish would be gasping at the surface!

thats good to know... my lfs also told me id need bubble bars and a strong enough filter to aerate as will as filter... typical! Glad ive not followed all of their advice!

It's a JAD SP-603E
Jad seems to be heavily stocked in all LFS where i live and so seemed a reasonable choice.
also i'm cycling my tank and i'm at day 3 and my waters turned cloudy is this normal?

Hi Joe and Welcome to TFF!

Agree with the other members that the important part is just keeping the surface water moving, rather than needing any big breaking of the surface. Bubbles are mostly decoration.

What method are you going to use for your fishless cycle? This is the most core part of beginner learning and one of the things I feel our beginners section can do a good job helping with. Most beginners here do an Add&Wait method using household ammonia. It can be an adventure finding the correct ammonia. Have you found yours yet?

You will need a good liquid-reagent based test kit. Many of us like and use the API Freshwater Master Test Kit. Have you found a kit yet? 100L is a nice size for beginning, big enough to give you some time to react to water changes, which is a good thing.
