Hi all, great forum, iv been reading here for a while but just never had the chance to join up! But hey im all registered now.

I just wanted to know why I have some weird fungus thing growing on my bog wood? Is this normal? Or is it something I need to be concerned about?

I have a Juwel Trigon 350 and have the set up for approx 2 weeks now, Its all d-chlorined, added the relevant solutions such as ammo lock, aquarium salt, anti fungus etc and have ran the nitrate, nitron & PH level tests and every thing is 100% perfect and ready for fish.......

Is it the bacteria process which I started when 1st setting up the tank which is causing this? Im kind of concerned about this, and wondered if it will harm my tropical fish which I will be buying today?

Any help or advice will be much appreciated. :good:

Kindest Regards

it's just something rotting on the wood. If you are concerned take the wood out and hose it off. It should go eventually when there is nothing left to decompose.

That fungus seems to be fairly common on bog wood. I had the same on mine as well. The only cure I found was to scrub it off with hot water and then plant a few more fast growing plants in the tank. I never completely irradicated it though but it was much less noticable. You may have more success posting this in the planted tanks section.

Thanks for the replys.

i did try the kettle water and scrub with a brush trick, however it grew back lol.

The bog wood i have in the tank is very nice, i would hate to get rid of it but if its going to look a mess i think i may have to! :(

As belongs it doesnt hard the fish thats my real concern....
