ive got 2 platy's and 2 ballon mollies both platy's where pregnant when i bought them last wed and this mornin have seen baby fry in tank they seam big for new born and have got alot of colour how quick do they grow ?

Platy's are livebarers and the fry are larger than egg laying fish (usually, in proportion), 3mm or round about. They will grow quickly if food is available, infosoria (sp?), minute aquatic creatures, baby brine shrimp or similar. Sometimes the food they need when first born is available in the tank anyway, but as they grow you may need to get some liquifry food (your lfs will help you here) or frozen baby brine shrimp (you can also get cultures for producing live baby brine shrimp and other live foods).

Welcome to the forum by the way :D

Not meaning to be rude, but this question belongs in the 'Beginner Questions'
forum, this forum is to say hello, so, Hello.

It all depends on the type of fish that is being reared.

Platys and Guppies are around 1.5-2 mm when born

Mouth Brooders are usually larger around 5-7 mm

Egg Layers are around 3-5 mm

But that all depends on the size of the adult. Usually Platy fry grow fast until they reach about a 1/2 inch long, normally they will hide out until they reach that size so it is hard to tell how fat they grow. Mine used to appear a small "chunks" in the water as they sank to the bottom before foraging the rocks for discarded food and waste. They became "free swimming" around the 3rd day and were about 3 mm when they emerged. The best thing is to have the female in a seperate tank with a breeding box to insure maximum return on the hatch, other wise you are just supply "fresh food" for the other habitants.
