hey i am new to keeping tropical fish it would be helpful if anyone could give me a few tips and some advice cheers , i have just recently got a 2 1/2 foot tank with a Elite Stingray 15 Aquarium Filter, interpet aquarium air pump airvolution , i have just got five gold fish in at the min and i also used tetra aqua safe wen putting the water in for the first time , i woke up this morning to find all the water had gone cloudy ,i changed have off the water and put fresh water in the tank but there is no change is this just the Tank Cycling ?

have you done the fishless cycle and waited until the nitites have spiked and gone to 0

nope i have put 5 small gold fish in the tank i only got it yesterday ,

If you have common goldfish they belong in ponds not aquariums and if you added them at the same time it might have been an ammonia spike
And the last thing if you cannot build a pond give the goldfish to someone who can or take the goldfish back

they are small goldfish , and i dont have a heater yet soo its just on 20c i am getting a heater next week and going to get my tropical fish then thats why i am looking for some tips and advice cheers

its 2 1/2 ft long

2 and half ft by 1ft

Good morning and welcome! :good: Sorry to say, but do not get any more fish! Please go here http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?/topic/277264-beginners-resource-center/ and read the section on cycling your tank. Your tank is not cycled and needs to be for the life of the fish. You are doing a fish in cycle. 5 goldfish is too many in that tank, even though they are small, especially if they are common goldfish. These can reach 2 feet or more in length. They are also cold water fish. If you turn up the temp, they will grow faster than you think. Water changes will be your and your fishes best friend for the next few weeks. You will also need a water test kit, if you don't already have one. Good luck1

:hi: to the forums! I'm glad that you found this site because it is one of the best you'll ever find. If you need help go to the beginners section of the forums. Also make sure to check out this link. It will show you how to cycle your tank the best and fastest way possible, fishless. I hope that you feel welcomed. Also don't forget to ask alot of questions, after all that's what we're here for.

For the method I'm doing the add and wait, because I feel it is the best method for me.
