Hey, so I'll start off by saying that I have never had fish before so this is totally new to me :)

Ok so I bought a 110 litre tropical tank and have had it running for 2 weeks and I want to add some fish to it now.

I would like everyone's opinion on what kind of fish would be best suited for the tank and also how many fish I can put in, and which fish can be put together.

As I said, I'm new to keeping fish so any help on the kind of fish would be great. I don't have any preferences about which kind of fish I like, so any help would be mega helpful... thanks! <3 :)

I would go for something like
A trio of apisto 1M 2F
8 cory
1 or 2 clown, bn plec, whiptail or twig catfish
10 tetra or rasbora
8 hatchets

hi

could u please give a few more details. some of them arent particularly important but some of them will help members here giev better advice.

do u have a filter? do u know anything at all about the nitrogen cycle?
what type/model of filter is it (it should be written on a box or something?)?
do u have a heater? or is it a coldwater fish tank?
do u have a thermometer inside the tank?
do u have a light?
what substrate does the tank have (gravel or sand or etc.)?
does it have live plants?
do u have any test kits at all? if so which ones?
what are the tanks dimensions?

as for selecting fish, i would suggest visiting a few of the lfs (local fish shop) in ur area and taking note of the ones u like. ask the staff for the names of the fish if theyre not readily available to u.

:hi: ...enjoy the forum.... agree totally with above - if you have sand some cories will be nice but if you have sharp gravel then they wouldnt be suited. A photo of your set up and description would be good.

Welcome to the forum and to the world of fish keeping! You have came to the right forum, as it is full of pros to assist you in having a beautiful and more importantly a healthy aquarium. As meguro stated, we need a little more info in order to assist you the best we can. I'm assuming that you bought the set up at a pet store brand new(came with the filter light)??? If so, the first thing you need to understand is the nitrogen cycle as meguro pointed out. Just setting your tank up and letting it run empty will not start the cycle. The water needs to create ammonia. Once ammonia is introduced, the water goes through a chemical battle. This site explains it pretty well http://www.firsttankguide.net/cycle.php , also I'm sure this forum has plenty of threads to help out. Please, please do not be overwhelmed, it really isn't as hard as it sounds, plus it's a great learning experience.

ok well I'll answer the ones I'm able to at the moment lol
It's a tropical tank And I have all live plants with gravel.
I have a water testing kit..erm all ph and nitrates etc are fine.
I got a bigger filter than the one that came for this size tank (that's all I can say about the filter yet) :)

4 x Panda corys
4 x leopard corys
4 x peppered corys
6 x Khuli loaches
6 x cardinal tetra
6 x bloodfin tetra
2 x dwarf gourami

I think they'd be good for a first time keeper (have I overstocked that list lol)

Gday and welcome to the nutt house, um looks like folks have got this covered...Hope the addiction sticks..have you any fish in it at present? or what did you do in order to mature the filter?

do you know what type? if not do you know if its a liquid or strip test kit?

It's a liquid one where you check the color on the chart
Thats good they tend to be more accurate than the strip tests. Do you know how many LPH the filter is?
Aslong as the filter is ok i think this would be a fairly light stocking and easy to look after
A trio of apisto 1M 2F
8 cory
1 or 2 clown, bn plec, whiptail or twig catfish
10 tetra or rasbora
8 hatchets

hi and welcome listen to these people
about what they say about cycling your
tank they know what there on about and
in the long run will save you time money
and probably no tears but any enjoy as advise
is free

welcome from the biffster

Welcome, as said above listen to the advise you get here, some of the stocking suggestions sound very pretty, but the most important thing to do before buying ANY fish is to cycle your filter using liquid ammonia available from boots stores.

You can't have cories on rough gravel because their barbels (whiskers) will be worn away. Sand or pea gravel is best for cories.

You could also have a live bearer tank with fish like guppies or platys.
