hi all. had a big story all written out and when i tried to add a picture it lost all of my story  typical. wanted to see if anybody could identify some lil critters found at the bottom of aquarium. they were, (hopefully all gone now)about 10mm long, large head with 2 big eyes, long thin body with 6 legs, and a long tail which out of water they could lift almost vertical. moved in water similar to how a croc does. any ideas? and any help on how to put pics onto here without creating a link?

No idea what they are but they sound amazing. If you post a picture i am sure someone will know soon enough :)

As for adding a picture... Upload the picture to ImageShack. Copy and save the url. Open the 'insert image' tool in the editor (2 along from the emoticon tab at the top of the editing box). Paste the url in to there and it should be done.

Alternatively you can simply paste the url in to your post and wrap it in image tags. So it would look like:

{img}your url here {/img} But change the { } for [ ]

thanks for the reply Vidster. guess i'm not a technophobe. will have another try tomorrow if i have time.

There are all sorts of insect life that make it in to aquariums and show up at different stages of their lives. Its really good to get these out, as even though most of them are harmless, there are a few cases where they can hurt the living things you care about in the aquarium. WD

could be something like that biffster. not identical but then mine could have been still developing. no feelers on head or split tail, and body smoother and more translucent. will try upload a picture later. thanks

see if this thing works biffster. not confident but can only try.

so much for just inserting pictures.

Looks like a damselfly or dragonfly nymph, if you put any micro fish or inverts in with it, it is capable of catching and eating them

The pictures are definitely dragon fly nymph in appearance. Unfortunately, they eat fish. Any fry in a tank containing those things won't last very long.
