New Tank?

I have had a new tank up and running for a week. I have no fish in it yet, All new gravel and decor was cleaned before adding. This morning for some reason the tank water is murkey. Its been clear all week until this morning. Can anyone tell me why and what do you recomend. I have have no live plants in it but was going to get some soon. Can anyone give me information about adding ammonia instead of using fish to build up the bacteria.
