Hello there

I hope someone can help. I rescued a Shubunkin which is in a very small tank with a small filter sitting in the tank. I have just got a second hand AA FRF-761 97 litre tank which is much bigger but I haven't got a clue how to set up. It came with a heater which I shan't be needing.

I'm not sure how the filter system works. There is the white plastic part of the filter sitting in the tank and above in the lid is a small tank. Flying blind here. Can anyone tell me how I set this tank up? Would really appreciate it and so will my little rescue fish.

Regards

Julie

Hi welcome to the forum! Good on you for rescuing the little fish :) Realistically though shubunkins are really a pond fish IMO, so perhaps something for you to consider in the future but if they are small now a 100 liter tank is going to be good for a while :)

Best thing you can do is empty the filter from the little tank into the chambers of the new filter this will move bacteria over and should be able to support the fish but in a bigger home. I would also keep the filter but set it to about 18c that way the temperature will not fluctuate. While these kind of fish can tolerate lower temps a steady temperature will keep the fish happier and healthy in the long run :)
