I am awaiting delivery of a 48 litre (Interpet Fishpod 48), which we plan to set up using a fishless cycle. We currently have a small 15 litre tank with 3 platys in but decided to upgrade. I have tried to research possible inmates for the new tank that will live happily in that size tank as a community, but have found lots of conflicting info, so I would welcome your thoughts on the following community:

48 Litre
- 3 existing platys
- 1 dwarf gourami (I really want this one)
- 1 peppered corydora (once tank established after 3 months or so)
- 4 neon tetras

15 Litre
- 1 Male Betta

Please let me know what you think. Thanks.

Can I really have that many with the other fish? Or would 2-3 be better. I'm quite happy not to have tetras to compensate for the extras corys

i too have a 48ltr tank, however i started with, neons and ottos, (like small sucker fish, but less exciting than smaller corys.) and then a big gold gourami, too big for my tank...ended up dying but i didnt now that it was too big for my tank back then. then either guppies or molies or swordtails in as iv had all of them in seperatly over the last few years...but i would definatly recomend platies as they are really nice friendly fish. guppies, as you may already now, breed like rabbits and arnt very hardy fish.

i now have in 8 neon tetras, 4 ottos (as cant find any mini corys (as i nickname then)round here.)
then are planning on having a pair of cichlids in. then im fully stocked x

like the idea of a betta in your 15ltr, they are lovely fish x

good luck, would love to see some pics of it and when its being set up and when you finally get the fish in ;) good luck x

oh and i have had red honey and honey gouramis in and they are lovely fish, they are best kept 1 male to 2 females, so id ask aroundif you could squeeze in 3 golden gouramis, but then again, im no expert so msybe ask for sure on the gouramis section for better ideas. x
