Thanks for sharing, amazing how much dfference the background makes to the look of a tank. Is that Argos sand? I'd be tempted to make a slightly deeper layer.

Thanks for your advice. Yes it is argos playsand, mixed with a bit of toys r us sand, it currently has about 17 kilos in there & now I have the light on I see your point. I may add another cm or so later.

Oh & btw the tape is on the cupboard doors because my toddlers kept banging them so i want that stopped before the fish move in.

i would also go with Jamepsss advice with the sand. Can i just ask, why you repaired the lightbar? was it broken?

It was a second hand tank & the lightbar wasnt working when I picked it up (this was stated in the advert).

I am an electrician by trade so after ruling out the tubes I got down to the nitty gritty & had a look at the insides. Turned uot to have a burnt out electronic ballast inside. so i sourced a free one, rewired the inside to accept it, resealed the box & saved mysely £90 for a new light bar.

Looks really nice so far :good: As Jaylam already asked, what are you planning on putting in the tank?

Good idea with the tape on the doors.
Keep us posted with piccies!

I have another thread here regarding the stock list for the tank.

should get some synthetic filter wool and put it in your filter and let the filter run a couple of days, will soon clear it. Then just take the synthetic wool out and throw it in the bin.
