Hey guys!

At this moment of time I have a 46 gallon cube tank, which is 220 litres (side length 65cm x height 65cm) Through out the years I have successfully kept, from Discus to Puffers, through too Rainbow fish, and many others. With my previous tanks I have also kept South American cichlids, categorizing in all different types of colours and sizes. And last but not least! Their personalities are an incredible viewing to say the least.

With this tank I have a Fluval 405. Now I have been told by a few people already that I may have to slightly overstock the tank, to keep aggression to a minimum. Which means more waste, etc etc. Will that be more then enough filtration? Regarding stocking levels.

Another question that I would like to ask. As an example, what variety of Cichlid. from Lake Tanganyika, could I possibly add? And how many. One other thing that I would like to ask. Excuse my ignorance! but..as for another example, would it be possible to add fish for lake Malawi with Tanganyika? and so on.

Thank's for looking :good:

Really am no expert only been keeping tangs for a couple of months myself,I run a fluval 405 in my 200ltr tank ,seeems to be adequate,I think you have to overstock Malawis to curb the aggression, but not tanganyikans,Ive got a small colony of multis, apair of julies (regani) a black calvus, six N.Brichardi which I am keeping a close eye on,and three N.Tretocepholus which I am keeping a really close eye on with their rep I need to I think malawis are colourful but tangs have got bags of carachter

I was away from home for a few days, due to family..so I wasn't able to respond as quickly. I was considering of adding a 305 but I don't think that will be necessary, on-top of what I have got running.

As for choosing between Malawi's and Tanganyika. I am still undecided, they are both very tempting. For my type of set-up, could you guys give me a hand full of recommendations, for what would suit. And of course the stocking of the tank. Thank's again.

can you not keep Malawi's and Tanganyikain same tank or would it have to big tank?

/Neil

Lots of views for and against mixing Malawi,s and Tangs, myself I wouldnt ,and my choice would be for a tang set up,no doubt lots will come on and say Malawi,s at the end of the day its down to your choice

Malawi's would be far too active and aggressive for Tangs imo.

You could definately have a nice Tanganyikan setup in that sized tank.

I'm sure Sean (Kiriyama) will be along soon to advise. :good:
