Been re-doing my 150g as a SA cichlid-based community over the last week. Including these two "fellas" (although I have no idea of their sex).
I just love the Satanoperca genus. Much more what I'm looking for, personally, in an eartheater than any of the Geophagus genus.
The satanopercas bicker much less. THey are also constantly sifting through the substrate, unlike the Geos, who seem to do it a bit. But, trust me, if you have owned fish from both genus, you will see the difference in % of time spent earthsifting.
These two are only about 2.5-3" long. Looking forward to seeing them grow.

On a sidenote, I cannot believe that there are no takers for your 320 tank on sale at AC for £20... Great price for a nano tank, but I'm not prepared to test the "get another tank and I want a baby" talk of my better half!

Brilliant fish :D I love Satanopercas as well but Geophagus just nudge it for me - though when I got my Geophagus Willmenari (spelling) it was a close call between them and some really nice Satanopercas - not sure of the species but they were really blue with spots in the face but there were only 2 left and I wanted them in a group.

I had a Daemon for a while who is now with Euston and yeah he was always sifting and easily the greediest/ hungriest fish in my tank - when I get the tank size I would love a group of Satanopercas as well but that would need a massive tank to go with my current stuff though I have seen groups of 10-12 of geos/satans being kept well together in around 6x2x2.

did u get them from MA in eastleigh/southampton, usually got some decent stuff in there, looks just like the ones in Basingstoke up as Jurupari, they only have 1 left though :(

THese came from MA, Newbury. And, as usual they were labelled as Geo.jurupari. The ones at MA, Basingstoke were also S.leucosticta (despite the labelling), and I would have gone there if they had had more than one left, as it is nearer to me.

NEVER, EVER seen them labelled correctly in any shop ! Not even the right Genus, let alone the right species ! If I ever see them labelled correctly I will personally shake the hand of the manager and kiss him/her on the lips !!

Where do you live tr0p1ca1 ?
