Ignore the bubbles on the glass

 Actually it was a complete drain and re-fill of the tank prior to putting Charlie in. The new wood is making the water cloudy and driving me mad, so its been drained and re-filled twice now and I only set it up Thursday  I didnt want him going into a thick tannin stained tank.

I still think little choccies look so much like baby oscars.

They are very much like Oscars in personality as well as looks. This little chap is nuts and extremely intelligent, I put some food in, sinking pellets, he grabbed one quickly as it sank and has since been moving each and every piece of gravel to find the rest, putting it in his mouth, then spitting it out when its not food, moving onto the next, he knows there is more pellets there and is determined to find them. Whereas an Oscar, in my experience, if they dont see it, they dont eat it  Or are just too lazy to bother to find it. He's not a shy fish either, love him to bits already :D

I agree. Chocs are like handsome versions of oscars - without those big goggly eyes ! :p

Minxy ... your choc looks lovely, and will have as many colours, and patterns to show you as there are days of the week.
Looks like he is like mine in that he gets lighter the less stressed he is. Some chocs are the opposite.

Yup, they are seriously intelligent ! It's good that yours is not timid. It's the only downfall of them as a species, as some of them can be rather timid.

I have noticed that with oscars too, Tiggs wont eat off the floor, neither will Rusty, Chops on the other hand will, but follows the clown loach till they find something.

Got me pondering now if Rusty would get on with a choccy
