That thing is wicked! Its fins go like all the way around, try pointing out the different fins on that guy!

Not a freshwater fish at all, only some members of the Achirus genus are truely FW flatfishes, all others are brackish water fish. Yours looks like one of the Brachirus species which are brackish/marine fish, if kept in FW i doubt it will live more than 6 months.

Considering that the fish should live for 8 years plus and grow to around 20cm full grown 2 years is not very long at all. However how you choose to keep your fish is up to you, personally i keep mine in brackish water where they are thriving.
