I GOT SOME NEW FISH!

I bought 4 new catfish and an algae eater!
Do i need any new food for the algae eater?
I am really pleased becase they are settling in really well they all got to work straight away. hopefully there won't be any problems!
Can you reccomend any chemicals for green mould like stuff growing out of the plastic log and vase in my tank i dont no wot it is????

thanx

Congrats!! What kind of catfish? What kind of algae eater? I personally wouldn't recommend putting chemicals in your tank. The green stuff might be algae? Or you can take your decorations out and rinse and scrub in hot water (no soap).

oh yeah. You can give algae wafers (hikari brand recommended) to your algae eater. You can also feed him blanched cucumber or zucchini and I'm sure there are probably other veggies and maybe fruits he would enjoy.

Hi, this is hjkt10's brother.... (don't ask why she signed up when i already was)....

Anyway, the catfish area all Corys, we had two before (one albino, one bronze), and now we have a total of three of each. We forgot the name of the algae eater because we were in a hurry when we bought it, but to describe it; it's quite thin and long, the upper half is grey and the lower half is white, seperated by a black line. It's head is quite a bit wider than the rest of it.... I will try to get a picture of him, when I can find the lil' bugger!

Meanwhile, we do have those pellet things, they're the same brand as the one's you mentioned above. For some reason, the guy at our LFS gave us those for our cory's when we first got them about 3 months ago... is this ok? Cos that's mainly what they've been eating since then. :/

Algae wafers are fine for the cory cats and the algae eaters too. But they do like a varied diet which is why some give the cukes and zucchinis. I haven't yet but when I get to the store I might. I just don't think I can find organic so I might have to skin them.

Plec tablets are also good for algae eaters. Your 'algae eater' sounds like it could be a chinese algae eater, false flying sox or siamese flying fox. You might want to find out which as the chinese one gets very large and aggressive and the false one just gets aggressive. Does it have a sucker mouth?

Have a look here for some information.
