Well I am back from my cross country trek! I went to Pier Aquatics this morning and just got back a very happy guy :)

Great shop that lived upto its reputation, though the owner said that it was quite empty at the moment! I dread to think that I have missed something special coming in this week but over all I got what I wanted :)

So cichlid wise I got my self a group of 4 wild Geophagus Winemilleri sp. Rio Negro :) Very happy with these as I said that these were one of the species I wanted - though granted the fact they are such a nice species as Winemilleri is a bonus as well!

I also got an Ageneiosus .sp catfish as well :) Not sure of the exact species as it does not match any of the ones on planet catfish but they had it labeled up as sp. Blue so I am taking his word that it gets to about 6/7 inches which is pretty good for me - they are quite active in mid water as well which is a bonus :)

Then for the small Badis tank I got a group of Rosy Loaches which are quite cool :) All of them are lokking a bit stressed at the moment and are still in float going to give them an extra long float because of the distance - they look like they have settled now and are getting stressed from being in the bag so time for their first dip!

Pics later :)

got yourself some nice picups there wills . :good: cant wait to be doing this stuff agaun myself .

Nice choices Wills! I knew about the gorgeous Rosy Loaches from Myanmar (with a "false" scientific name, Tuberoschistura arakanensis, based on the location where they were found), but that catfish genus looks like chunky Hypoptopoma (a good thing!) and those Geos look like they develope lovely red stripes/ fin tips.

Looking forward to pics over the next few days ;)

Thanks guys :) Hopefully pictures later tonight! Though just phone pics as my camera is packed away somewhere.....

Having doubts over if the geos actually are Winemilleri or not..... for fish famous for having striped tails these dont have striped tails haha! Ive just read something about them looking similar to Geophagus Proximus (spelling) so need to have a flick through some pics me thinks.

Goat - the rosy loaches are really good!

Maybe there still just settling in. Or they might develop them bolder when older.

Just released them into the tank :) The Geos seem really good nice tight group :D Not a clue what they are though on reflection - all I know is that they are from the Rio Negro have much much wider bands than other geos and they have a black band under the chin and quite a pronounced latteral line spot but not the tell tail stripes in the tale! Im wondering if it is something they get as they grow like Kizno said?

The Catfish went in the tank swam round a bit then landed upside down then swam around again and went in a corner then went into the wood...... not going to lie a bit worried about him lol but catfish do do some crazy stuff....

Loaches are doing pretty good as well :)

And the Agensious catfish - panicked me a bit when I first got him in as he just went belly up on the sand but hes having fun swimming around in the current.

Whatever the Geos are they absolutely stunning. The catfish is great looking aswell. The closest match i can find is Ageneiosus cf. atronasus but it could be a undescribed species.

Do you think the cat could be Auchenipterus nigripinnis? There seem to have been a few of these available recently, so could be a possibility? They are difficult to catch on film, as they are very active swimmers. I don't think they are A. cf. atronasus as, although it's hard to tell, the leading edge to the anal fin in that fish is dark, yet it appears Wills' fish is clear.
If it is A. nigripinnis, then they don't seem to be easy to keep:
To anyone doubting the purchase of Auchenipterus nigripinnis, stop doubting. Simply don't buy. In my opinion and experience this auchenipterid is highly unrecommended. Sorry.

Its not the Acuhenipterus as this fish is naked not with those scales. To be honest I think that it is an undescribed one. Lets face it Pier Aquatics is probably one of the best shops to find a fish like that. Im just hoping it does not grow to be a huge fish..... So long as he stays under lets say 9 inches Ill be happy :)

I could see the Geos colouring up and looking like Winemilleri if a few days, there are bits of red on there!

It sounds as if your catfish is one to note in the diary for not hiding away (and then causing worry!)... Is that fair to say, so far?

Just seeing the Rosy Loach again has left me ruing my missed chance to get some of these to put with my Filament Glassfish, when Aquajardin had some a couple of months ago... Beautiful; active; peaceful fish!
