So I have a 20US gallon with 5 three-spot gouramis in it. The tank is getting a little boring with no variety, and because my algae eater just died, I figure it's time to switch things up.

I'm cool with dropping a couple gouramis to give my tank color. What would you suggest for tank mates, or is it not ok to have others in with the gouramis?

Also, just because I'm curious, when I got my gouramis, my lfs told me not to add salt to the tank. Is that right?

I can't wait till I buy a bigger tank... :)

is 20g big enough for 5, three spot gourami's, i know you said you were getting a bigger tank.

as for tank mates ; bottom dwellers like cories and mid water fish my three spot doesn't like top dwelling fish but thats just him.

not sure about salt with them but they are from acidic water ??? i believe.

:good:

I *think* It's just barely enough, which is why I may get rid of some. Thing is, and another part of the equation, only one has reached it's full size (4" I believe). The rest are at about 2"ish

I would just keep a pair of the gouramis; pick two that like eachother the best, if possible. And add swordtails (1 male to 2 or 3 females) or 3-5 ottos or cories.

my three spot is getting past the 5 inch mark.....

i would reccomend swordtails to go with gourami's aswel. well mine got along in the community tank when i had it.

:good:

i like my old one's they had dark blue bodies with orange fins, i did breed a pair of them but their no longer with us.
