Hi,
Im a new fish keeper in the Harlow Area
Any info on lfs would be welcome.
So far I have found
LFS in Bush Fair - This needs modernising in my opinion - havent really gone back there
PetsatHome, Harlow - Not a bad shop for tanks and equipment, but the fish stock is limited (lots of Barbs, though)
Water Gardens Centre, Roydon - Again limited in fish stock.
Amwell Aquatics on the road to Epping - A good fish stock, but Ive got my reservations about this shop as I see a few dead fish and some fish trying to escape here. But this is where I got my fish from, and, to be fair, they are in sparkling health at the moment.
I hear there is a fish shop in Bishops Stortford, but havent found it yet, so any news on that would be great
(Sorry, is that a question? Maybe this post should be moved! 8)
I have a Juwel Vision 260, which has finished its fishess cycling and has now been lightly stocked with a small shoal of playful swordtails and a gang of antisocial shrimps. All is well at the moment, but reading some of the horror stories on here, I suppose that could change at any moment.
Ive experienced no real problems - yet - but the water changes are laborious, given the sheer weight of the water involved even to do a small partial change.
My water is uber hard, but for now Im restricting my 'fish list' to fish who can handle it. The swordtails will have the tank to themselves to the new year, though.
Ive also got into the planting side. They are being fed with a CO2 supply, which thankfully isnt affecting the PH too much in this tank. Ive also some bogwood and rocks which make the tank a bit unsuitable for the bigger bottomdwellers as there isnt that much bare substrate left!!
So, a big hello - Im happy to admit my inexperience, but Ive got my fishes best interests at heart, so please excuse if I ask any daft questions.
Hope you are all well and Merry Christmas!
Paul
