New Filter

Hi guys

My Fluval Edge (U2) came today. How do I know that it's working properly? I can see that the surface of the water is moving a little bit. Does that mean it is? It's not moving loads but it is all the same. It has 3 settings for where the water comes out and I've selected surface flow. I just did a 25% water change aswell because it had some sort of film floating on the top.

If your filter is sucking in water where it should be, and is blowing it out where it should be, and all your filter media etc is where it should be then your filter is working. If you have some funny looking grey stuff floating ontop of the water, get a little container with a pouring lip and skim the surface, so u just take a thin layer off the top of the water and it should get rid of it.
