The moderating team has been working on remodeling the Buy, Sell, & Swap section in the past few weeks. This will soon be opened up as a “read only” Classified section for members, until the moderating team begins working on moving topics to the appropriate areas of this new section.

Please take this time to read over the Rules, Sales Forms, and Disclaimer.

The Buy, Sell, & Swap section will remain open for posting during this, as well as the new Classified section. This will take a few days of work for the moderating team, but will end up with a more organized section, easier for members to look for or sell a particular item, easy to search by area or item, as well as making for an easy to moderate section.

Thank you for bearing with us during this little move, our biggest effort is towards assuring our buyers and sellers have a continuum of service.

Had a look and have a question

Do you use the first sub section labelled Rules and sales form read this first, which has a different form that encompases all sections or just post in the relevant livestock, wanted etc.

If you just want people to read the rules in that section would it be an idea to close it to replies?

That is a more generic version of the section specific forms, and yes, it will be closed to posting. We do want members to have a real good idea of how we want things to go at first, a bit of duplication helps to get the idea across. That section may be removed in the future.

Thank you for your input! :good: Many good ideas have come from our members over the years, and have been implemented. Questions asking for clarification are always welcome, other members may have the same concern.

excellent idea on the closed posts , it can get very off putting for buyers when they are discussions over the prices of things and accusing the sellers of over pricing things in the selling threads

Well done team , hope it works out great , by reading it it seems it wil do :)

Just as a general observation another non-fish forum i frequent has a rule on not posting items for sale unless you have at least 30 substantial postings. This does seem to reduce the problems and help establish a bit more of an idea of the type of peeps receiving your hard earned beer tokens.

(especially when someone manages to post 30 x "looks good" in 15 minutes......)

OK
We have spent a lot of time and effort on the new re-vamped Classified section, It is our hope that it will go "LIVE" in the not too distant future. We would request the membership to take a look at it and familarise themselves with it inorder to make the transitation as easy and painless as possible for the team. We feel it will offer an easier format and with the inclusion of pictures will be more friendly towards the buyer as well as helping the sellers prospects.
Please be aware the the major changes include that a Sales Form must be filled out and a Picture must be included
Otherwise the member starting the thread will in the first instance be asked to ammend and if not compliant then the post will be removed.
Please take a look at the earliest possible moment and feel free to pass on any quiries or criticisms to the Mod Team.
Thank You

Quick question - what happens for those members who don't have a digital camera or even a mobile phone with a camera. We can't post photos in the sale section. Does this effectively mean we can't sell anything?

Obviously allowances will have to be made, we don't go around with a big stick. but in this day and age most folks will have access to some sort of a digital media device.
The pics will help generate more confidence as most other Classified sections wither it be forums or otherwise almost always require a pic ie (Ebay).
Would you not rather see a pic of what your buying.

Definitely!

I don't have anything to sell, but I just wondered about people like me - both my husband and I have very primitive mobiles, and his camera recently died! And a new one is low on his 'to buy' list.

no chance of a general sales section aswell, if some people want to sell non fishy items?

Not for now OS
Sometimes that can cause more trouble than its worth, that's not to say we wont debate the matter, it may come up for review at a later date. We would like to get the proposed layout up and running first then see where we go from there.
