Hi

My old tank light gave out last week and today was the first chance I had to replace it. I did have a Sun-glo 15w T8 but had to buy a Power-Glo (still 15W T8) one instead as that's all they had.

Will it have any impact on my plants? I says it's "superbright" which I dispute coz I'm sure my Sun-Glo was brighter but does any of this even matter? I currently have my lights on for 6 hours a day and dose with TPN+ and Easy Carbo.

I do have some minor issues with algae (which are very minor) and some slighly bigger ones with black hair like algae.

Thanks. It's a strange light. My fish's colours show up better but my plant colours look like crap :(

There is a big difference in colour between tubes such as sun glo and gro lux. One is yellow and the other is pink. Makes for a big difference. Finding a happy medium would be best i reckon. Most of the bulbs you can buy are full spectrum so growth shouldn't really be any different.

Thanks everyone. By Xmas I'm planning/hoping to upgrade to the Fluval Roma 125 so I guess then it'll be easier coz I can mix bulbs.

Fab! I'm looking forward to setting this tank up more because I have 18 months experience and there's deffo things I'll be doing differently :)

It's amazing how much you change your ways with a bit of knowledge and a few ideas under your belt. :)
