Okay, I'm buying a 55 gallon tank soon, very soon. ;) I can't wait! But anyways, I'm moving my Ropefish who's in a 30 gallon to grow out, into the 55 for a permanent home. I went to a Local fish store the other day to browse for a good tankmate for my Ropefish. I decided on Green Serveums. But, I was with my friend today and he told me to get a Oscar. I questioned him because some people on this fourm say that you need at least a 75 gallon for one oscar. My friend said that the Local fish store he goes to says, right on the tank in magic marker " You MUST have a minimum of 40 gallons to buy an Oscar". Okay, sow I'm confused! :S I know people are going to tell me that I the 55 is too small, but my question is: if I even do get the Oscar, would he pick on/eat my Ropefish? :/ I allways wanted an Oscar so, I thought it would be cool. I'd be buying him/her at about 8 or 9 inches. -_-

for an oscar you will need a tank of about 70 gallons. i dont know of any other cichlids that would go with your rope fish.

i might be wrong bot mabye some rams would do your tank nicely.

I've heard that ONE oscar and NOTHING else can go in a 55 gallon but its probably pushing it. I wouldn't go for the oscar personally. I dont know a whole lot about ropefish tho so I dont know what else could go with it. Are they aggressive at all?
