The fish he has needs tropical temperatures. So they do need it.

They don't need a temperature of 79. Thats on the high end for some of them. Neons and corys specifically would ideally be kept cooler than 79.

My bad, I thought he had them at around 72-75. The yes, you need to turn your heater down to that range OP.

I missed the temperature previously...I agree, 79F is too warm for some of the mentioned fish (cories, neons in particular). A temperature around 75-76 (24.5 C) would be better for all.
