just needing a little reassurance before i go and buy a friend for sid lol

Ok at the lfs today and they had the most gorg petrol blue/green female (i want bad!) and been new to bettas and trying to learn i figured i would ask for a little help before i go ahead and get her!

The lfs said it would be fine and they are very reputable for the area (one of the best actually for knowledge and quality of fishes etc) what i wanted to check is I have had sid for about 3 weeks now and he is very settled in his 7 gal tank with plants bog wood and a small plec he just seems alittle lonely! would it be ok to intro her into this is it going to be so small for them both (i know how they can be kept in a gal tank but i just wanna check) and will they be ok together or attack the plec if they decide to breed? also will he accept her easily or will it take some time (knowing sid this could be an option as he can be stubborn!)

Thanks for the help in advance guys as it will be really appreciated! oh and just lastly Hi everyone as i haven't said so yet!!!! :hyper:

You can't keep a male betta and a female betta together in one tank unless it's for spawning purposes. And, even then, she must be removed immediately after spawning or the male will kill her.

I would find a new lfs, if they told you otherwise.

Also, it's easy for us to give our fish human emotions (anthropomorphizing), however, the male betta prefers to be alone. It never hangs around in the wild with other males and it only seeks out a female for breeding purposes.

all my bettas are kept on there own.In divided tanks,I think you could maybe add a trio of small cories or somthing. But nothing big.
