Hey i put up a forum but no one replied.

i just bought two blue rams im pretty sure that one of them is a female because its got a pink belly but people tell me that male blue rams dont have round back dorsal fins. and mine has a round back dorsal fin but no pink belly. so im pretty confused what sex this one is.

its still small, will it start to grow into a sharp back dorsal fin ???

Pay attention. I replied.
Nobody else replied because it's pretty hard to tell without a picture.

Males do have a rounded dorsal fin at the back BUT it's pointier than the females. I don't think you should be looking for a real sharp point, just less rounded. The pink belly is also a characteristic of a female. The males are generally larger than the females. The males have more of a yellowish tint to their body. The females are fatter, males are more elongated. You also have to look at their behaviour: Are they tolerating each other. Are they 'sticking'.

Of course, there are even exceptions to the rule. For example, a female may not have a pink belly if she's in less than good health, could mistake a large female like this for a male.

Anyway, pics would really help
